Day Two - Atlanta Trip
Published On: Dec 14, 2006

A Painting of Great Significance
Begin day two with a visit to the Atlanta Cyclorama & Civil War Museum. The Cyclorama is said to be the world's largest painting. It portrays the Battle of Atlanta on July 22nd, 1864 with a tri-factor of scenic dioramas. As you sit and peruse the gargantuan painting a wise guide enters and relays the story of this famous battle. Also featured is the historic Civil War steam engine - "Texas."

Historic Times
American history enthusiasts will certainly appreciate the Carter Center. Take I-20 to Moreland Avenue and guess what? This is where the Battle of Atlanta took place over 140 years ago. Inside the Carter Center is a collection of photos and other artifacts dedicated to former President Jimmy Carter. Perhaps the most fascinating feature is the replica of the Oval Office, heralded by critics across the nation as "Best Oval Office Replica" anywhere!

A Leisurely Lunch
Just nearby, there are plenty of places to eat, but there are two that will have your taste buds bursting with pleasure. The Brewhouse Café has some great pub style food and plenty of frothy beverages to wash it down with. Then there's Savage Pizza offering some of the areas best slices.

Shop it Up
If you're a big shopper, head to N. Highland Avenue. There's anything from vintage antique clocks to fashionable scarves to comfortable shoes to rare collectables to snazzy present-day fashions of elegance. Whatever you're looking, they just might have it here.

Nightlife & Entertainment
Before you hit the scene, grab some tasty Italian vittles at La Tavola Trattoria. Then venture back down N. Highland Avenue and check out Blind Willie's. They've got some of Atlanta's best blues. Try to get there before 10 p.m. if you want great seats. If you rather chill back at a pub, try the Limerick Junction.
