If you're spending three days or less in Atlanta, here's a brief agenda that will fill your trip to the brim with activity, yet at the same time allow for a little relaxation.
Let's start off at the World of Coca-Cola with over 100 years of history, commercials and memorabilia. You can even sample a plethora of internationally distributed soft drinks.
Up next is the CNN Center at the Omni Hotel on Marietta. If you want to tour through the studios, and capture a glimpse of World news in the making, be certain to book in advance. On the other hand, you could always walk into the lobby and buy a sweet CNN pin in the gift shop.
Next up is the Centennial Olympic Park. In 1996, athletes and visitors from around the globe came here to participate in the Summer Olympic Games. Now is your chance to see where it all took place. You can have a picnic or merely admire the city's skyline, but one of the coolest features is the Fountain of Rings. The kiddies love this one because they can stomp through the water. On a hot sweaty day in Atlanta this can prove to be quite refreshing indeed. During the summer months free concerts and shows are held. For dinner, there are plenty of delectable options to choose from in the Virginia-Highland area.
On day two, venture to Midtown Atlanta and peruse the Atlanta Botanical Garden. Here you'll find a fascinating assortment of horticultural delights and flora-filled gardens. Or you could check out the High Museum or Art. With over 11,000 pieces of art from the 14th to 21st century, there is much to explore.
On day three, discover the Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic District. You can stroll through the King Center or tour through his birth home for free and learn about a pivotal slice in American history. Exploring the life's work of perhaps the most significant public speaker of the 20th century is a profound and inspiring experience.
